We’re here to help you move beyond dating apps and create genuine, meaningful connections with like-minded singles in your community

Why We’re Doing it

Dating apps have become the dominant way people meet potential partners, but they come with significant drawbacks:

  • Disillusionment with Apps: In a 2019 survey, only 28% of users said they felt hopeful while using dating apps, compared to 45% who felt frustrated. While apps present endless options, they can lead to choice overload—making it harder for users to form meaningful connections.

  • Ghosting and Burnout: 50% of online daters report being ghosted, and a 2022 survey showed that 80% of app users felt burned out after a year of use. Instead of building connections, many people experience more disappointment, exhaustion, and anxiety.

  • Mental Health Impact: A 2020 study linked frequent dating app use to higher levels of anxiety and depression. With hashtags like #ihatedatingapps appearing over 1 million times on TikTok, it’s clear people experience dating app fatigue and feel a deep dissatisfaction.

  • Loneliness Epidemic: Loneliness has been declared a public health epidemic, with nearly 60% of adults reporting feeling lonely. Ironically, dating apps designed to connect people are often deepening this sense of isolation, as interactions lack the depth of real-world connections.

Not only are people struggling to find partners through dating apps, but the dating apps are worsening mental health. All this in a time when loneliness has been officially declared a public health epidemic. We created Resonance to make a difference in our community by bringing people together in ways that feel fun, easy and authentic.

Resonance:

the core of our mission

Resonance is more than just a concept; it signifies a deep, meaningful connection that goes beyond surface-level interactions. Just as resonance in physics amplifies vibrations between objects, our goal at Resonance is to create matches where individuals elevate each other’s energy, forming a connection that resonates on a higher level than they could achieve alone.

We invest time in understanding you beyond the superficial attributes captured by dating apps. Through a comprehensive assessment, we explore your passions, goals, and the qualities you value most in a partner. This personalized approach allows us to identify matches that go beyond appearances or shared hobbies, focusing instead on a deeper resonance between two people.

Who We Are

Founded by Eve Mugar and Melissa Crawford, two psychotherapists with a passion for bringing people together, Resonance is rooted in the belief that meaningful connection is essential to our well-being. We use our backgrounds in mental health and group facilitation to create spaces that feel safe, inclusive, and energizing.

Resonance creates thoughtful, welcoming events that help people connect in real life without the hassle of dating apps. We design curated experiences for a wide range of communities that reflect diverse religious and cultural backgrounds, sexual orientations, and relationship models. Whether we are collaborating with local organizations or hosting our own events, our goal is always the same: to make connection feel easier, more human, and more fun.

In addition to events, Resonance also offers personalized matchmaking for those who want a more tailored approach to finding meaningful relationships. Whether you're meeting people through one of our gatherings or through our matchmaking services, we’re here to help you connect with others who genuinely resonate with who you are.
